This site was excavated in the 1940s by Plimoth Plantation founder Harry Hornblower.  It represents one of the earliest Plimoth Colony sites yet found. The site has the distinction of being the location of the infamous Eel River/ Clarke Garrison House Massacre of King Philip's War (1676).
